Parents v. Kids Day

Following what has now become a seasonal tradition, the Soccer in the Streets League in College Park, GA concluded the Fall 2009 season with the “Parents vs. Kids” games.

Trash talking started earlier in the season, as the U6’s were intent on showing the parents their newfound skills and giving them the sound thrashing that their season-long jibes deserved. With a combined force of 4, 5, 6 AND 7 years olds, the parents went down to defeat and the “Little Kids” held the “Parents vs. the Kids” cup proudly and loudly.

The older kids – comprised of U10s, U12s, and U14s (including the GoGirls) were a formidable opponent for the much older and much more weathered parent contingent. In spite of scrappy play and unrelenting attacks by the kids, the parents superior wisdom and experience ruled the day and the kids went down to a sobering defeat – YET AGAIN – in the Fall 2009 edition of the Parents vs. the Kids. It could be said that the refereeing may have been a bit biased or outright lax, however we should all remember that the referee is not the one out there kicking the ball for the other team and while they may call back 10 out of your eleven goals, the score would still be one – nothing. Never blame the referee for your own shortcomings.

Coach Jill would like it pointed out that the play of the day was a beautiful cross from the left wing to the far post, met perfectly by the hard head of Curtis Curtis. Props are also due to the goalkeeping prowess of Kevin Butler. Nice try, kids, see you next season!
