New opportunities

I'm excited to be heading over to the Tennis in Motion Academy in College Park tomorrow to help out with their Spring Break camp. Even more exciting is the opportunity to take one of my U19 players along to get him started with his coaching education.

Isaac is a player who wasn't highly regarded when I first met him. He's a big guy (6'4"), left footed, but pretty raw on the soccer field. One of the best things about coaching our U19 team last season was watching this kid develop into a quality player. Going from being considered a joke by your teammates to a consistent starter and standout player is impressive. Factor in his performance at a recent college scouting combine and his excellent grades, and this is a guy who is going to go somewhere.

Tomorrow will hopefully be the first step in building up his knowledge off the field. If all goes well, Isaac will be helping us out as a staff coach at some of our summer camp positions in a few months. It will be his first work experience, which will only benefit him as he grows up.

Stuff like this is one of the reasons I love my job so much...
